Safety Policy at River Church

At River Church, we consider safety and transparency to be of utmost importance. We encourage everyone to address any concerns or conflicts directly with the person involved as a first step. This promotes open communication and helps resolve issues in a respectful and timely manner. In addition, we have established a policy regarding trusted persons. Below you will find more information on how we organize this matter and how to contact us if you have any questions or reports.

Trusted Contacts

River Church has appointed two internal trusted persons: David Gasser and Pauline Brandsen, to ensure a safe environment for volunteers, staff, minors, vulnerable individuals, and parents. Our trusted persons offer a listening ear and provide support in dealing with (suspected) inappropriate behavior, such as:

  • Bullying
  • Violence or aggression
  • Manipulation or discrimination
  • (Sexual) harassment

You can contact the trusted persons via the general email address: vertrouwenspersoon@riverchurch.nl, or, in exceptional cases, through the general phone number: 020 334 2010, asking for the trusted person. All information will be handled with strict confidentiality.

What can a trusted contact do for you?

  • Listen and provide support where needed.

  • Work together to see if an informal solution is possible.

  • Provide information about further steps, such as filing a complaint or reporting to external authorities.

  • Offer guidance if you wish to submit your case to a complaints committee, supervisor, or the police.

  • Provide education on how to address inappropriate behavior.

Our trusted persons operate independently, maintain confidentiality, and work in line with River Church’s policy. Only in exceptional cases, such as legal obligations related to a lawsuit, may this be deviated from, and the trusted person must disclose relevant information.
